Hiring a DJ

Hiring your DJ is an important step in planning your event. Your DJ will set the tone for the entire event and will your be Master of Ceremonies. When you budget for your DJ and start considering how to choose one, remember that your DJ will be the one that is going to make or break your event! Planning your entertainment should be a fore thought and not an afterthought. You should consider going to see your DJ in his or her natural element.

Questions to ask your DJ:

  1. Are you a full-time DJ or is this a hobby?

A hobbyist is not necessarily a bad DJ, but consider that a professional entertainer does this as his primary occupation and must ensure that every event is flawless!
  2. How much experience does the DJ have?

A new DJ might be a great DJ, but a seasoned professional will be able to handle any challenges that arise throughout the evening without a problem.
  3. Are you available on my date?

Fill out this online form and we will get back to you.
  4. How do I know which DJ will be providing entertainment for my event?

Many companies will contract you without telling you who will DJ your event.  Mobile Music will let you know at the time that you contract who will be the DJ for your event so that you have the option of going to see that DJ in advance.
  5. How will the DJ be attired for the event?

All of our DJ’s attend weddings in formal attire.  For other events, we discuss the appropriate attire with the you and come dressed for the occasion.  If it is an outdoor event, khaki pants with a company shirt might be appropriate.
  6. Can you assist in planning my ceremony and reception?

We will gather all of the necessary information from you and work with you in advance in order to customize your event.
  7. Do you offer a two-person team to help coordinate my event?

We offer a two-person team package that will give you the ability to show up to your event and just relax!  Your DJ can stay behind the DJ booth and focus on your crowd, your music and your announcements while the assistant helps to coordinate the event.
  8. Do you have the edited versions of today’s music and an extensive library including the current Top 40 Pop and Country?

We subscribe to music updates that provide the radio edited versions of the popular music and update our music on a regular basis.
  9. Do you play requests?

We will play requests unless you have specifically asked that we not play requests.  We will only play requests that fall within the guidelines that we have established with you.  For example, if you are hosting a 50’s themed party and only want 50’s music, we can accommodate.  If you ask that we not play any rap or hip/hop, we will decline those requests.  We will also decline any request that we feel is not appropriate for the setting, unless you approve that request personally.

Helpful Planning Tips Once You Hire a DJ:

  • Make sure that you submit event planners and music requests at least 4 weeks prior to your event.
  • Seat older family or guests that may be sensitive to loud music farther from the speakers.
  • Place your DJ in a location that is not obstructed.
  • Avoid seating your guests between speakers and the dance floor.
  • Hire your DJ so that he is setup and ready to go prior to the start of your event, even if you are having a band or additional entertainment.
